Feb. 2008 (ATLANTA) -- Local actress Taneisha Bennett achieved
every actor's dream and won the Young and the Restless
audition contest in Atlanta, Georgia. It all began when Bennett
auditioned for the Young and the Restless fan screen
test at Houghton Talent Agency in 2007.
Bennett, a Biology graduate of the University of Georgia
and flying the friendly skies as a flight attendant during the day,
combined the chemistry of her profession that possibly released
the passion of her art.
Bennett beat out hundreds of local talent and was flown to Hollywood,
Caifornia for nine days of taping. During her trip, she mixed and
mingled with actors Jeanne Cooper (who plays Katherine Chancellor)
and Jess Walton (who plays Jill Foster Abbott).
One of her most propelling moments on the set occurred right before
lunch. She said, "I felt bad for Adrienne Frantz [who plays
troublemaker Amber]. She had to have this big emotional breakdown
in one scene and then we all immediately went to lunch. You have
to learn to switch gears quickly."
Bennett said Frantz's talent on the set reaffirmed her passion
to pursue acting as a career. Bennett played the part of Sally Rollins
in the episode, which screened on CBS, January 24 and 30, 2008,
at 12:30 PM, EST.
Deborah Owensby, a talent agent at Houghton Talent, said she was
proud that one of their own talent won.
Bennett said her 84-year-old grandmother, Ella Bennett, "jumped
over the moon" when she was chosen for the part.
